  • Grape Variety: 100% Syrah
  • Vineyard: young vines located in Corcova, Romania; organic grapes;
  • Style: dry rosé wine, intensely aromatic, fresh, mineral aromas combined with fruity flavors of peaches and strawberries; well-structured, intensely fruity (peach, strawberry, blackberry), with high acidity and a pleasant and refreshing lingering finish; 13% vol alc.
  • LIMITED EDITION: 150 bottles, Magnum (1.5L)

Wine-making:

  • Maceration for several hours to extract aromas and color,
  • Slow and progressive pressing with the addition of nitrogen to avoid oxidation of aromas,
  • Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures;
  • 2 months on yeast, with stirring at regular intervals.

About the grape variety

Syrah is seemingly originally from the northern Côtes du Rhône or the Dauphiné region. Syrah can produce great quality red wines with a fairly high alcohol degree, that are suited to ageing. This variety gives very aromatic, fine, tannic, robust, complex (spices, violet, olive, leather-animal, etc) wines with relatively low acidity (pH is sometimes rather high, particularly on schist soils), which tend to have an intense (blue-toned) color. Syrah also produces very fruity and interesting rosé wines.

About the winery

Laurent Pfeffer is a french wine engineer and oenologist trained in Bordeaux, who first discovered Romania during a period of study and never wanted to leave. After realising the viticultural potential of Romania, he decided to look for land suitable for growing vines. Fate directed him to Corcova, where he discovered the history and winemaking tradition of this region. 

In 2007 he decided to settle here and founded the Catleya estate, which he currently runs together with his wife, Anne-Cecile. Since 2021, the Catleya estate has been converting to organic farming, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, in order to materialise our efforts through the certification of an approved body.

How to serve

Sparkling and Light-Bodied White Wines - “Ice Cold” between 3-7°C

Rosé and Full-Bodied White Wines - “Fridge Cold” between 7-12°C

Light and Medium-Bodied Red Wines - “Cool” between 12-15°C

Bold Red Wines:“Slightly Cool” between 15-20°C

How to store

When preserved correctly, wine can last for decades, even centuries, growing in value and quality. But poor storage can spoil even the greatest wines in the world. How to recycle

Up to 90% of new glass can be made from recycled glass. If you’re getting ready for a night out on the town, drink consciously and remember to keep your empties and then bring to the bottle bank. If you’re hoping to leave future generations with a healthy-ish and useful environment, then recycling wine bottles is the way forward and it doesn’t take much effort.
