An intimate dining experience in Berlin: Romanian contemporary cuisine with wine pairing!

The Romanian Wine & Dine Series continues with Chapter 5! Our new guest Chef for October and November 2024 is now confirmed: Bogdan Alexandrescu. Here's just a brief intro:

Let us cosy up this coming autumn with reinterpreted Romanian dishes and amazing natural sips. There is also another big update: we‘re changing our location and will be popping our events up at the beautiful SieMatic showroom at Leipziger Platz.

There is an extra surprise for you! We are offering for the first time 4 special seats at the Chef's Table! You'll be able to sit directly across from Dexter Chef, snack a few treats in between, and steal some of his cooking secrets. 

What is included in the price:

  • 3.5-hour candle-light dinner, hosted by Ramona;

  • 6-course meal created by Chef Bogdan Alexandrescu;

  • Romanian wine pairing, curated by WSET3 somm Ramona.

    • How many seats? 20-seat max. capacity + 4 Chef's Table seats
    • IMPORTANT: this event is a Pop-UP and will happen only 6 times. For food allergies/intolerances, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Who's Cooking?

Chef Bogdan Alexandrescu, also known as Dexter, has over 12 years of experience in gastronomy and has revolutionized the local and international scene, promoting respect for nature and local and sustainable culinary traditions. 

He is part of L'Équipage des Cuisiniers de la mer Ethic Ocean, was Executive Chef at Relais & Châteaux and graduated from the exclusive Advanced Studies in Gastronomy and taste program organized by the University of Reims-Champagne-Ardenne & Le Cordon Bleu Paris. In 2023, he was named Romania's Best Hotel Chef.

Recognized in top Parisian gastronomy and lifestyle magazines such as Vogue, Le Figaro, Le Fooding, he has received rave reviews from prestigious culinary critics such as David Lebovitz and Alexander Lobrano.

Who's pouring wine?

Ramona Enache-Lorenz founded Pointer in 2014. Her love for wine started in the vineyard of her grandfather. She learned from him how to care for the vines and how to make wine. Spending so much time amongst the wine barrels, Ramona further developed her taste and preferences during her travels and became a WSET Level 3 certified sommelier in 2023.

In Ramona's opinion, Romanian wine has great unlocked potential and deserves to be better known around the world. Romanian food is a topic that has been coming up at almost every meal with international friends for the past 10 years and it is finally time to bring that to Berlin.

What kind of magic table set-up is this?

We will be using Romanian hand-made ceramic objects, designed and produced by Atelier Lutfain, a ceramic studio based in Bucharest and run by designer and fellow architect Andreea Chiser. Candle holders belong to Radu Abraham, a Romanian designer based in Cluj, Romania, whose work we have been admiring for years. Last but not least, wood planks are signed by Atelier Vast, a woodcraft studio run by one of our oldest friends and fellow architect, Stefan Nechita. We are so happy to have them all on our pop-up dining table!

Pricing Policy

Our public wine & dine events are priced at 139 EUR per person. The pricing for private wine-tasting events varies depending on the number of participants and location. Please have a look at our private wine-tasting offer for more details.

Location

We currently host our events in Berlin Charlottenburg, at the Pointer Headquarters - Ramona's home. The location might change with each new Wine & Dine Chapter. Menu

We are trying to eat with awareness and reduce our meat and fish consumption to the minimum. Romanian cuisine uses a lot of that, however there are plenty ways to navigate it and we are happy to offer Vegetarian, Pescatarian and Meat menus without compromising the recipes, but rather giving them the right twist.

Food Waste

In the process of creating the menu and planning the events, we highly value all the ingredients and make sure we use as much as we can from every vegetable or fruit. We are big fans of fixed menus and limited seating because this helps the staff plan the quantities accurately and avoid waste. Whatever is left after the event will be either donated or eaten by us, so stick around in case you haven’t had enough.

A dinner to remember!

What a beautiful evening surrounded by fantastic food and passionate hosts Ramona and chef Bogdan! The 8-course Romanian wine and dine experience was not only my first time trying the cuisine, but also discovering the country's wines. Highly recommend for a unique and memorable dinner experience

Last week’s Romanian Wine & Dine event with Pointer Sips was top-notch. Eight incredible courses paired with Romanian wines, all created by guest chef Bogdan Alexandrescu. We went with the family, and the whole experience was pure class from start to finish.

Chapter 5 offers a wonderful dining experience, blending traditional Romanian flavors with a modern touch. Chef Dexter’s dishes are delicious, and the Romanian wine paired with each course are a great highlight.
